Ganga to go off Air
COLORS' afternoon band of shows Saanjhi Dopahar started with lot of promise in the month of February, with DJ's Creative Unit's Aise Karo Naa Vidaa and BAG Films' Agnipareeksha Jeevan Ki Ganga. However, the shows did not see a great flourish in terms of ratings, though Aise Karo Naa Vidaa has managed a decent level of viewership till date.
On the other hand, Agnipareeksha Jeevan Ki Ganga never managed to gather a decent rating and the story line too went off the hook after the initial phase. Recently, the creative team did experiment a lot by bringing in some new characters as part of the story line, but nothing worked in favour of the show.
The latest is that the channel has decided to pull off Ganga, and have given the production house a time of one month to get to a logical end.
Our little birdie tells us, "Ganga is slated to go off air in the end of August. The channel has not zeroed in on a date for the closure of Ganga, as all depends on the next show they will be launching at this particular slot".
We hear that Hema Malini's upcoming show for COLORS is basically being made for the afternoon band. But it looks as though the channel aims to slot Hema's show at a prime time slot. If this happens, Creative Eye's Yeh Pyaar Na Hoga Kam which is presently at the 9 PM slot might be in trouble of getting moved to an afternoon or early evening slot. Even Pearl Grey's show Pratha is in the pipeline for a launch in late August or early September.
We called up Tarun Khanna, the protagonist of Ganga, but he refuted the news and said, "We have not been informed of such a thing. We are shooting normally for Ganga".
We called up Co-Producer of Ganga Digant but he said, "There is nothing like it. Ganga is doing fine".
However, our source claims that Ganga which stands at meager TRP of 0.7 is slowly and steadily proceeding towards its logical end.
