Pavitra Rishta wins International Awards

 

After Indian cinema, it is Indian television that is going places. Zee TV’s popular show ‘Pavitra Rishta’ bagged the special jury award at the Seoul International Drama Awards 2010, which aim to identify the best international television dramas.

‘Pavitra Rishta’ is set in Dombivili , Mumbai. It is the story of a middle-class girl, Archana’s, attempts to lead a happy married life. This also involves winning over her estranged husband and making a place in her mother-in-law’s heart.

Zee TV’s programming head Sukesh Motwani said in a statement published in hindustantimes.com, “The beauty of ‘Pavitra Rishta’ lies in its simplicity. We were confident that the show would captivate the audiences in India. But the honour at Seoul Drama Awards comes as a delightful surprise.”

Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai and Bidaai and Tere Liye and Pavitra Rishta and Chand Chupa Badal Se

Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai from Rajan Shahi is special in many ways. It depicts relationships beautifully. And every actor does the best. And all are quite good looking. And there are no acrimonious villains and vamps except perhaps Mohit's mother and two other characters. Hope Rajan Shahi keeps the level of villainy of Mohit's mother under control so that this show becomes more pleasant. This is one of the shows that one can watch without much tension.

Whereas Bidaii is full of plastic characters beginning with Sadhana. The only believable characters are Ragini's father and Sadhana's husband. All the other important characters are either over the top or plain dumb. And why can't Ragini talk instead of whispering? But Ragini's acting is far better. I like her spirit and her sense of self respect. Sadhana lacked both spirit and self respect.

Chand Chupa Badal Se is full of cry babies. Every episode has characters crying endlessly. When will they stop crying and start enacting some scenes? Will it become another run of the mill show?

And Tere Liye. The heroine looks too young to be paired with Harshad. She almost looks like his step daughter.

Pavitra Rishta heroine's new look is weird. She looks aged in this look. The former look was much better. I will advise Manav to have both Archana and Shravani. They both can go on cooking and cooking.
