Scholarship Details:
The University of Agder invites
applications for a full-time fixed-term appointment for a period of
three years as PhD Research Fellow in Mathematics Education at the
Department of Mathematics, Faculty of Engineering and Science. The
position is currently located in Kristiansand, Norway. The starting
date, after January 1, 2011, is to be negotiated with the Faculty.
Faculty of Engineering and Science:
The Faculty of Engineering and Science presently has a scientific group in mathematics education, and history of mathematics, including six professors, four associate professors and two research assistants. There are approximately 20 PhD candidates registered on the PhD programme. Over recent years the group has been responsible for a number of large mathematics teaching developmental research projects funded by the Research Council of Norway and has been host institution of the Nordic Graduate School in Mathematics Education.

Position Details:
The focus for the position will be directed towards teaching and learning mathematics within one of the current areas of research and development in the field of mathematics education at the University of Agder.

Proposals to research teaching and learning mathematics at university level are particularly sought and will be prioritised.
Eligibility Details:
The PhD Research Fellow must be admitted
to the PhD Programme in Mathematics Education at the University of
Agder within three months after the starting date. A plan for the
completion of the PhD in Mathematics Education during the period of
employment will be worked out in agreement with the University. The
plan will include required coursework and the production of a thesis
based on original research.
