2010-11 Postdoctoral Positions and Research Assistantships Available in Socio-Technical Data Analytics USA

Scholarship Details:
GSLIS invites applications from students wishing to pursue doctoral and post-doctoral training in the design, development, and evaluation of advanced technologies to retrieve, synthesize and learn from large collections of text. Opportunities are available in the following research projects:
Towards Evidence-Based Discovery
Language Change in Text Retrieval with Machine Translation Techniques
Defining and Solving Key Challenges in Microblog Search.
Applicants:
Successful applicants will join a community of scholars in the Socio-technical Data Analytics group (SoDA), who are affiliated with the Center for Informatics Research in Science and Scholarship (CIRSS).
Position Details:
Candidates for the post-doctoral position must hold a Ph.D. in Information Science, Computer Science, Computational Linguistics or a related field. The successful candidate will have excellent written and oral communication skills and will be fluent with programming and SQL to allow for quick prototyping of research ideas. Salary is competitive and will be commensurate with qualifications and experience, plus all standard benefits for University of Illinois employees. The initial position will be a 12 month appointment (starting immediately) and may be renewed based on performance and extramural funding. Award Details:
Awards for the research assistantships are competitive and will be assigned to the most qualified applicants after admission into the Ph.D. program.
